On Friday, Xcel Energy Inc. filed their $1 billion Rush Creek Wind Project plans with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Under the plan, Xcel would build, own, and operate the 600MW wind farm and 90-mile 345kv transmission line.
The plans include 300 2MW Vestas wind turbines, each built by Vestas manufacturing plants in the state of Colorado. The project would power 180,000 homes, and provide 350 jobs during construction. If approved as expected, construction would begin in 2017.
