Webinar: Recent Developments in Western Energy Markets, the EIM, and the Integration of Wind Energy

This webinar will be held Thursday May 28, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm Pacific Time. Register for this webinar here.

The last year has seen major announcements from Western utilities to participate in market opportunities that will facilitate the integration of wind power and other renewables. Utilities and electric Balancing Authorities (BA) in the four corners states can now choose to join the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM), an energy market to buy and sell energy on a five-minute basis. Participating BAs will have access to energy to deal with system imbalances, and the EIM is anticipated to improve reliability and lower the cost of renewable energy integration.

This webinar will provide information on the range of services and operations of the West’s only organized regional transmission market - the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).  This background will help participants understand the emerging EIM and its governance, as well as how the EIM supports wind integration.
