As a regional partner of AWEA, the Interwest Energy Alliance helped plan the AWEA Colorado Wind Energy Forum held at the University of Denver in Colorado on October 1, 2014. Interwest Executive Director, Sarah Propst, moderated the “Colorado Wind Situation” panel, which included participation from Kurt Haeger (Xcel Energy), Senator Matt Jones, Kevin Gildea (NextEra), Kent Singer (Colorado Rural Electric Association), and Jeanne Bassett (Environment Colorado). The panelists discussed the current status of wind development in Colorado and near-term challenges and opportunities.
Interwest Regulatory Attorney, Lisa Hickey, served on the “Colorado Wind Challenges” panel, moderated by Mark Safty, Wirth Chair at the University of Colorado Denver. Other participants included Steve Black (former counselor to Interior Secretary Salazar), Michael Milligan (NREL), Pam Kiely (EPA rule consultant), and Ron Lehr (attorney).
The event was attended by over 200 people, and included educational talks from former Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, President of RES Americas Susan Reilly, Senvion’s Steve Dayney, Ron Binz, David Eves (CEO of Xcel's Public Service Co of Colorado), Shaun McGrath (EPA Region 8 Administrator), and many others.
